Windward Aid celebrates one year of impact

22 July, 2025

On Saturday 19th July, we marked our 1-year anniversary at the Carriacou Botanical Gardens in Hillsborough — a beautiful afternoon of gratitude, celebration, and vision for what’s ahead.

From humble beginnings in the aftermath of disaster, Windward Aid has grown into a movement rooted in community, resilience, and collaboration. This milestone reminded us that recovery isn’t a one-time act — it’s a collective journey.

We were honoured by the presence of key voices shaping that journey, including:

Hon. Tevin Andrews, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government

Permanent Secretary Leanwall Perorate, Anderson “Leftist” Matheson, who skillfully chaired the event @leftist24, John Montrose, Valentine Fraser & Daniel Lewis.

The afternoon also featured vibrant cultural performances from:

  • Gaynel Charles

  • Mt. Pleasant Government School

  • The Trio Choir

  • Jelani Moses

  • Shaka Zulu Drummers

  • Bassie and the Boys

As we look forward, Windward Aid remains committed to supporting the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique — hand in hand with our communities, partners, and supporters.

Here’s to the work we’ve done — and all that’s still to come.
